Clinical Rotation – Week 2 Journal
Dates of rotation: Monday (April 9, 2018) – Friday (April 13, 2018)
Location: Martha McKittrick Nutrition
Activities & Assignments:
Monday (8 hours)
- Went to Trader Joe’s to look for more pictures for the blog
- Edited Trader Joe’s blog
- Challenge: It’s been difficult getting pictures for the blog since Trader Joe’s closely monitors their customers.
- Continued Fresh Direct blog
Tuesday (4 hours)
- Finished draft of Fresh Direct blog
Wednesday (8 hours)
- Sent Fresh Direct blog top preceptor
- Made a picture banner for the Fresh Direct blog entry
- Discussed new project
- Started research on new project which is a guide to eating out in NYC. Preceptor and I discussed that we would divide it up into different cuisines.
- Edited preceptor’s food record
- This is the food log that my preceptor gives to her client who need to keep a food records. My preceptor was not happy with the format of the food record.
- Thoughts: It was great to be able to design something that clients will be using.
Thursday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm (8 hours)
- Finished editing food record
- Made edits to the Fresh Direct Blog
- Added 2 introductory paragraphs
- Observed PCOS client counseling
- Thoughts: This is my first time seeing a client with PCOS. I have read all about PCOS and I’ve always been interested about this topic so it was nice to finally listen to someone that actually has this condition.
Friday 11:00 am – 7:00 pm (8 hours)
- Finished Fresh Direct Blog edits
- Started Eating Out in NYC guide
- Thoughts: This seems like a big undertaking since NYC has so many different cuisines available. However, I am looking forward to contributing as much as I can since this will definitely be of help to many of my preceptors clients.
